That rug really tied the room together

Here is another poster I created two quarters ago in school.  We had to create a movie poster for one of the Coen brothers many films.  I was pretty happy when I picked this title out of the bowl. :D

Props if you get the stain, hehe

Creating A Living Doll

This is another piece I did during my 3rd quarter in grad school. It was the first piece I created completely from scratch in Illustrator. I'm pretty dang proud of it! I had to create an infographic poster, so I decided to do mine on child pageants after  marathoning a bunch of Toddlers & Tiaras.

You've Got Something On Your Face

Last quarter I helped a couple of classmates with a project they were working on in an advertising class. I only did the make-up, everything else is other creative hands at work.  They were assigned PETA as their company, and then had to create a print and video advertisement campaign. Their angle was on the harms of eating fish. [which I make no claims that any of the written/spoken copy is actual views held by any person involved in this project]

Deliverable: Mumford & Sons

I haven't shown you guys any of my work from school lately, so I'm here today to show you a poster I made two quarters ago for a type class.  If you want to check out the other pieces I've posted, you can check them out here.

CRUNCH TIME!

(source)

Wow, February has really flown by!  Which means March is right on our tails, and then means...CRIT WEEK IS in 2 weeks!!

Most of you know I am in grad school. My school runs on quarters, so at the end of every 3 months I hardly sleep, live at school, and once or twice will have a fit of manic hysteria at 5 in the morning. But this quarter has an added bonus! This weekend is the 48-hour Re-Pack competition. From 7pm Friday until 7pm Sunday I will be living at school.  No, seriously. Clothes, blankets, toothbrush...it's all coming with me tonight. So even though I am excited to do this, I'm also super anxious thinking about how this is happening right before the end of the quarter.  I'm sure it will all work out in the end, but if I'm a tad M.I.A. for the next 3 weeks, you know why.

Also, on that note I won't be having a call for sponsors for the month of March. I want to change a few things up anyway, so keep an eye out for the new and improved sponsor set-up in April. ;D

Grad School: 1st Quarter Down!

I have officially finished my first quarter in grad school!  I learned a lot, met some great new people, and had a mini-meltdown while trying to get everything ready for critique.  Yano, the usual.
So today I thought I would show you some of the work I created during this 1st quarter.  There are other pieces, but they were more technical projects, and aren't terribly exciting.

This first project is where I had to look at the magazine Garden&Gun and then make a mock cover, title page, and 2 page spread for it.  Since I was already craving the cooler months, I decided to base mine around gourds and the decorative nature people can use them in.

All art direction and photography is done by me. I'm still learning with type, so I had some guidance when it came to that.

This second project is where I had to shoot a portrait and then do beauty retouching on the image. This shoot ended up being a lot of fun and I will have more images to show from it very soon!

:D
