My Birthday!

My birthday was yesterday [the 30th] and it was great!

On Saturday Matt and I went to Monster Mini Golf because I looove mini golf. I wish I could find some places with moving obstacles and crazy course set-ups, but I think mini golf has pretty much lost it's popularity :(
However, I really liked the monster theme and black light activated course this place had and it ended up being a lot of fun. Matt and I even tied on the score--60 points each! They also had an arcade which I wasn't expecting [I ended up getting a cute wiggy eye elephant ring with our tickets] and their birthday party rooms were set-up like a spooky haunted mansion. We received a buy one get one coupon so we will probably go back and try to beat our scores. :D We ended the night by coming home and stuffing our faces with cookie cake--my favorite kind of cake!

On Sunday we lounged around and then got dressed to go see CIRQUE DU SOLEIL: OVO! I have been wanting to go to one of their show's since I heard about them in middle school-- so I was pretty excited when Matt gave me the tickets on Christmas. Before heading to the big top we had dinner at Iberian Pig and tried a few of the tapas. It was all really good and they even surprised me with a birthday desert which I had been secretly eyeing on the menu. Mango, raspberry, and passion fruit sorbet rolled in white chocolate, served with fresh whipped cream and seasonal berries...it was amazing.
Once we arrived at the show and found our seats I became even more excited. Our seats were great--dead-on center! Everything about the show was just as I had imagined and now I am even more determined to see their other shows now. I really want to see "O" in Las Vegas...has anyone seen it?

**Most of these pictures were taken with a cell phone in poor lighting. sorry!

Super excited with my skeleton and raccoon friend!

Neither one of them are amused with the other
Eighteenth hole is scary!
Tried to show that...just looks like I'm yawning. :x
I am out for blood when it comes to AIR HOCKEY!  oh my
We brought Stinker home when he was 6 months, and it's been roughly 6 months since...so I decided it was his birthday too!
He appreciated it.

Lake Lanier's Magical Nights of Lights

I've been wanting to go see the lights at Lake Lanier for a few years now, so when a Groupon* coupon came up for just that--I jumped at the offer!

Our friends Mark and Jinah [of Bonjour It's Jinah] joined us on our "magical" adventure as we drove through 7 miles of lights. I thought I would end up taking some nice pictures--but I didn't. Most of the images ended up being taken with my phone, from a moving car, so they came out as just a big mess of not much. Sorry--I was too caught up counting the kids sitting on top of their parent's cars and trying to figure out what person/place/or thing some of the lights were trying to depict.  However, there were some pretty magical moments of lights and we all decided in the end we were glad we went. Plus there were S'MORES at the end of our journey.  You can't go wrong with that!

You really don't need the sound on for this.

S'MORE TIME!

At the end of the line. They had fake snow spraying from the roof which ended up being foam. Which is what that white spot in my hair it. Later a rogue foam piece struck me right in the eye. ow!
Expensive petting zoo. Most of the animals had called it quits and were all hanging out with Mr. Heat Lamp anyway. Except for that lone goat [or was it a shaved sheep? could not decide] He was just standing so stoic on top of the hay bail.
Hmmm-I promise Jinah was there--we took pictures together! They must be on someone else's device :\

I'm probably not going to make another post until after Christmas-- so I will see you then! :D
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

*Don't use Groupon? You should--I love it! I mainly use it when restaurants I enjoy come up, but it also entices you to try activities you wouldn't normal do because of the price. [Not going to be sneaky--that is a referral link]

LensHero.com Review

A few weeks ago I stumbled across this awesome site called LensHero.com. This site is designed to help the consumer make an educated decision on a lens that is within their budget. The interface is completely user-friendly. Just plug in your camera, budget, and what type of lens you are interested in and LensHero.com gets to work! The search results will give you lots of information--some of it being price, reviews, compatibility, and a grading scale to show how key features stack up compared to similar lenses.

This site has been more than helpful for me with doing research on the lenses I am thinking about investing in. I know for me it can become overwhelming trying to find and organize all the information from various sites, but with LensHero.com it's all neatly arranged in one place! I highly recommend you all check it out. :)

Holiday Decorations

So the tree is finally up and decorated! This sudden cold burst has kept my motivation to venture outside to a minimum, but on the other hand, it gave me time to finish the ornaments I had started weeks ago. I had grand ideas of a tree full of hand-made ornaments and unfortunately that just didn't happen. I made a handful of different creations, but in the end, only three made it on to the actual tree. I'm really happy with the three though and I have pictures to prove it! ;D

The rest are just a variety pack of non-shatter ornaments my boyfriend and I picked up at Target. Which I am very grateful for, because even though our older cat rarely has any interest in things other than sleeping and eating, our younger cat thinks EVERYTHING is for his entertainment. He has taken great pride in knocking off the ornaments that I deliberately put higher-up on the tree so he couldn't reach them...which he just finds to be a fun challenge.
Culprit caught in the act!

This tiny felt wreath was what I made first even though I really had no idea where I was going to put it. It ended up being the tree topper though because the topper I originally had was about 5 times too big and the tree was having none of that. This is a great way to use your odd felt scraps you have lying around.

The other two ornaments I made ended up being these two silly owls. I made a small animation during construction that you can see here . You'll notice that I changed the beak in the end to something more beak-like.

The rest of the images are just random ones of those previously mentioned awesome non-shatter ornaments as well as some I took of the lights we strung on the porch. I'll start with an image of what our tree looks like to me when I take my contacts out. ;)

On another note, we unfortunately did not win the Chronicle Haul-idays Giveaway but they did give us this!

Sorry that doesn't give you all much notice. :X  I'm going to go pick out a couple from my list once I post this.

Mint Postcard Pin-Up Show Round 2

Last Friday I mentioned a Pin-Up Show I had submitted work for.  Here are just a few pictures of those pieces.

In progress shot.  Don't be jealous of my crazy drawing skills. ;D

Here they are hanging up at Mint Gallery.  Looking back, I wish I hadn't put up the cat one as it wasn't a fully thought out or executed  design. I'm really happy with how the other two came out though!

Tonight I'm working on some Christmas ornaments/decorations. I already finished one and I really like how it turned out. Hopefully I can have some pictures to show by next week.

Happy Haul-idays with Chronical Books

I love Chronical Books! If you spot their cute little reading glasses logo you can be pretty certain it's going to be a good book.  So I was thrilled to find out about this amazing contest they are currently holding.

[taken from website]

So here is my list. Trust me-- it took a couple of hours to narrow this list down but I think it's a great collection. So, if you would be just as thrilled as I would to win all these books--leave a comment and cross your fingers that we become the lucky winners. ;D

What I Wore: Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving was pretty much a PERFECT day weather wise.  It was right in the middle of hot and cold-- which it rarely ever gets here. I get cold really easily and I was thrilled that I didn't have to put on a heavy coat to make my trek to be with my family for the holiday.

Dress: Zachary's Smile for Barneys New York CO OP
Tights: probably some place like Target
Boots: Bodyline

It's hard to believe Thanksgiving was a week ago and it's now already December! My birthday is at the end of the month and I'd like to plan something I've never done before.  Does anyone have any suggestions?
+ HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all my fellow December babies. :D

I'd also just like to welcome all of you to my blog.  I know a lot of you came from the Golden Snitch giveaway Roxy of grrfeisty is holding and I'm glad you decided to stay awhile!
